چکیده

Least Recently Used cache replacement rule is at the core of many replacement algorithms in modern distributed networks. The wide popularity of this rule is primarily due to its high performance, self-organizing nature and ease of implementation. Therefore, in order to further the insights of designing network caching protocols, it is important to gain a thorough understanding of the baseline LRU replacement policy. In particular, it is essential to characterize its performance in the presence of statistical locality in document request sequences [1].

Locality Characteristics of Web Streams Revisited

This paper studies locality of reference properties of Web streams using a recently proposed AggregationDisaggregation-Filtering framework. Two primary research questions are addressed: 1) What impact does locality of reference have on caching performance? and 2) What are the locality characteristics of streams that result from aggregation of filtered streams? Trace-driven simulations are used ...

A Novel Approach For Web Pre-fetching and caching

Due to the fast development of internet services and a huge amount of network traffic web caching and prefetching are the most popular techniques that play a key role in improving the Web performance by keeping web url that are likely to be visited in the near future closer to the client. Web caching technique work integrated or independently with the web prefetching. The Web caching and prefet...

A Replacement Strategy for a Distributed Caching System Based on the Spatiotemporal Access Pattern of Geospatial Data

Cache replacement strategy is the core for a distributed high-speed caching system, and effects the cache hit rate and utilization of a limited cache space directly. Many reports show that there are temporal and spatial local changes in access patterns of geospatial data, and there are popular hot spots which change over time. Therefore, the key issue for cache replacement strategy for geospati...

Accurate Modeling of Cache Replacement Policies in a Data Grid

Caching techniques have been used to improve the performance gap of storage hierarchies in computing systems. In data intensive applications that access large data files over wide area network environment, such as a data grid, caching mechanism can significantly improve the data access performance under appropriate workloads. In a data grid, it is envisioned that local disk storage resources re...
